This year has started well, with a high level of enquiries and a good level of sales agreed. Market prices are currently controlled by the banks as they work towards selling their property stocks. Private sellers are having to fall in line with the bank prices to acheive sales. On a more positive note the banks are running out of the more desirable plots at resorts like Hacienda Riquelme, and once they are gone there are no more to be released.

So what are the best deals currently available? At Mar Menor the apartments are selling well but there are some fantastic offers on villas too (see Mar Menor). At La Torre we have some superb offers on apartments, townhouses and even villas from 125,000€! Bank-owned apartments at Hacienda Riquelme are currently very cheap, but as we said above, the best plots are being snapped up. Act fast if you would like a Hacienda apartment in the 70k bracket.

The Pound has just hit a 16 month low against the Euro, encouraging UK property investors to develop more interest in the strengthening Spanish property market.

GBP/EUR currently stands at around 1.2000, a growth of more than 10% over recent months. The result is that a property in Spain which may have been on the market for GBP 200.000,00 just 8 months ago is now effectively GBP 20.000,00 cheaper!

The Spanish Government has extended the reduction in VAT on new properties to the end of the year.

VAT on new properties purchased from the developer remains at 4% until the end of 2012.

Electrical power has been installed at Corvera airport in preparation for the airport opening later this year. The infrastructure is complete and ready for handover.

Corvera airport is widely seen as a hugely positive step forward for the Murcia region because the new airport will be able to handle many more flights into the region from different areas. If the Paramount Theme Park goes ahead this will be the closest airport to the resort.
